The ‘Gamification’ of Education

The ‘Gamification’ of Education

A short read about how people spend less time at school and more time in gaming with a related video of how to mix the to.

I’m all in favor of gamifying education, in my studies and work with gaming education has always had a perfect fit for games and game elements of all sorts.

The current education system was created to prepare people for the industry of the times. As that industry grew more complex education became longer and harder. But todays knowledge workers need completely different skills.

Basically, the education system is broken and gamification can help it become relevant again. But the article doesn’t say it half as well as an example, check out Khan Academy and relearn math. Khan academy is an amazing online set of tools and video lectures on a diverse set of topics. But the math section is the most impressive, it has turned math into a full game. And it’s really fun to learn.
